Family & Work Life: Josh and Ashlee met in high school and were married after college, in 2005. After 15 years of praying to the Lord for children, God blessed them with four children in a time span of only three years: Mallory, Mia, Nora and Matthew. After graduating from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012 with an M.A. in Biblical Counseling, Josh was certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and has previously served at the Nashville Rescue Mission (TN) as the Director of Counseling and at Biblical Counseling Services of Nashville as Director, Instructor and Counselor, as well has owning and operating his own home remodeling company.
On Describing Cornerstone: Rooted and built up in the Gospel. In all conversations, it is evident that the members don’t just know the right answers but live out their love for Christ in observable ways.
Brief Testimony: At the age of 19, Josh was invited to an outdoor evangelism event where the speaker entered the event dragging an empty coffin across the concrete parking lot! Through a very simple presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and warning against hardening one’s heart, God saved Josh through the awareness and conviction of being good on the outside, but self-righteous on the inside. The testimony of Romans 10:20 resonates with Josh’s personal experience: “I was found by those who did not seek me, I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.” From that time, the grace of God has led Josh on a path he could not have imagined on his own, turning away from sin and pursuing Christ.
Influential Books Recently Read: Love the Ones Who Drive You Crazy by Jamie Dunlop, because it is a very practical demonstration of what a ‘Christ Alone’ church looks like.
Bible “Hero”: The Apostle Peter – because what he wrote was a ministry to me during a very dark time in life. I might not tell him this when I meet him, but I also use his life as a reminder to tap the brakes on some of my “great” ideas.
Hobbies: Family bike rides, taking the kids to throw rocks into the lake, and an occasional running or triathlon race.
