Though Jesus’ arrest appeared to be a failure, His mission was proceeding according to His plan, which involved His voluntary humiliation and suffering on our behalf.
Jesus prayed that His Church would be formed by His word, perfected in real unity, and brought safely home to eternal fellowship with Him in His final glory.
