Abe Smith – Lay Elder

LAY ELDER – Oversees Communications

Family and Work Life:  Abe Smith and his wife Arian met in college while chaperoning a date for some K-State band friends. They eventually starting having their own dates, married in 1998, and have three children. As a family, they enjoy playing board games.

Although Abe was fascinated with the space program growing up, he decided to forego math and physics and has been with Dow AgroSciences for over 20 years.

On describing Cornerstone:  Vulnerable, Authentic, Fun, Easy Going. Abe appreciates this body’s willingness to give greatly of time, talents, and treasures in the midst of the busyness of young families. He also loves that our body is hungry for the Word week in and week out.

His testimony:  At a young age, Abe came to faith on a front porch swing, understanding that the sin in his life was enough to separate him from God for eternity. Through God’s grace, he began to understand that Christ’s sacrifice was the only bridge to that separation. The Lord has been gracious to bring teachers and mentors into his life to continue to further help him understand this grace. Abe hopes to live out his life in light of this saving grace in obedience to the Lord through ministry to His church and through displaying and declaring the gospel to others.
